One of the benefits of living in the city where they film Star Trek: Discovery, is that they often use local landmarks and locations to film! Recently I took a short drive to the Aga Khan Museum of Islamic Arts, or for fans of star trek, the Vulcan Science Academy!

For those who don't remember this location, it was featured in the Star Trek: Discovery, first season episode entitled "Lethe". In the episode Michael Burnham gets pulled into her adoptive father Sareks memory of her being denied entrance into the Vulcan Expeditionary Group. Most of the scenes are filmed with quick cuts in a hazy dream like sequence with lots of reds, whites, and bizarre Vulcan statues!
Although only briefly seen in the episode, the outside of the museum looks exactly the same as in did in the scenes, without the red trees, Vulcans, and statues of course! When there, you can see why the producers/design team chose it, as it has a beautiful courtyard and the odd architecture has just enough of an alien feel to make you feel as if you're on Vulcan!

Currently the museum is running a moon exhibit which was the main reason I decided to visit. Although after seeing the DISCO location, I definitely will come back in the summer time to get a better feel for the location when the pools are filled with water, the trees are filled with leaves and there isn't so much snow on the ground!! If you are in the Toronto area, and are a fan of Star Trek: Discovery, I definitely recommend checking out the Aga Khan Museum (or at least the outside courtyard!!!)
